Her father Yoon Hak-Kil has represented the Republic of Korea in baseball and competed at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, where it was a demonstration sport. In June 2018 she tore the meniscus in her knee. She decided to postpone surgery in order to compete at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, where she went on to win gold in the women's team sabre competition. In 2021 she underwent a second operation due to the same injury six weeks before the start of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
