At other tournaments, the Indonesian team were silver medallists at the 2017 South East Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur. In a four-team tournament that also featured Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, they finished second in the round-robin stage to progress to the final. Facing Thailand, whom they had lost to in the group phase, the Indonesian suffered a 23-run defeat and finished the tournament as runners-up.
