Lebanon are making their second Asian Games appearance at Hangzhou 2022. Their debut was in 2006 in Doha, where the team posted one victory in the group stage over Uzbekistan before defeating Bahrain and the Syrian Arab Republic in classification matches to place ninth.
The Lebanese team have finished as runners-up at the Asia Cup four times this century. They most recently reached the final in 2022, beating the People's Republic of China in the quarterfinals and then securing a one-point victory [86-85] over Jordan at the semifinal stage. In the final against Australia they rallied late on, outscoring their opponents 30-18 in the fourth quarter, but they ultimately came up short and lost 75-73. They were defeated by the People's Republic of China in the 2001 and 2005 finals, and by the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2007.
The team debuted at the world championship [now the World Cup] in 2002 and returned at the following two editions in 2006 and 2010. They missed out on the World Cup in 2014 and 2019 but qualified for the 2023 tournament with seven wins from 10 Asian qualification group matches.
