She tore the anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] in her right knee during a rehearsal on the competition day at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and withdrew from the event. She underwent surgery in September 2018 and returned to competitive action in March 2019. Her knee ruptured again one month before the 2019 World Championships in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, but she chose to compete while controlling the injury through rehabilitation and medication, and won bronze in the jianshu category. In 2021 she underwent another operation on her right knee to repair her ACL, lateral collateral ligament [LCL], and cartilage, and was out of action for six months. RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She considered retiring from competitive wushu after the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia, where she was unable to compete due to a knee injury. She decided to continue her career to pave a path for future athletes. "I first considered retirement after the 2014 Asian Games, but I grew more into the sport at that time. I planned seriously to leave the scene after the 2018 Games, but I felt regret leaving like that after my injury. Wushu also helped me make an appearance on a TV show, so I wanted to let more people know about the sport. This year [speaking in 2022] I saw a decrease in the number of athletes participating in the national team selection trial compared to last year. I felt like wushu could disappear in the country. In particular, there are 12 business teams for male athletes, but none for women, so they left the scene as there is no future for them. I will continue competing as long as possible so that junior athletes can follow in my footsteps." (nocutnews, 29 Mar 2022)
