Team Overview

General
Indonesia are making their ninth appearance in the Asian Games men's volleyball competition at the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou. Since their debut in 1962 they have never won a medal, and on their most recent appearance in 2018 they finished sixth.

As hosts of the 2018 Games, the Indonesian team lost their opening match 3-1 to Saudi Arabia but won their other Pool A game 3-0 over Kyrgyzstan. They progressed from the round of 16 with a narrow 3-2 win against Thailand, but then lost 3-0 to the Republic of Korea in the quarterfinals. Their tournament ended with a 3-2 defeat to Japan in the fifth place play-off. Indonesia's only other Asian Games appearance this century saw them place 13th in 2010 in Guangzhou.

In 11 Asian championship appearances between 1975 and 2023, their best performance in that period came when they reached the semifinals as hosts of the 2017 edition. After a 3-0 defeat by eventual champions Japan in the last four, they lost the third place play-off to the Republic of Korea by the same scoreline.

Indonesia won three consecutive South East Asian Games titles between 2019 and 2023. The 2023 triumph was their sixth South East Asian Games gold medal since 2003.
