In 2018 the Koreans won all three of their group stage matches before defeating the Philippines 91-82 in the quarterfinals. They lost to the Islamic Republic of Iran [80-68] in the last four, but claimed bronze with an 89-81 triumph over Chinese Taipei.
In 30 appearances at the Asia championship [now known as the Asia Cup] between 1960 and 2022, the Republic of Korea finished in the top three 25 times. They won the title twice in that period [1969 and 1997]. Between 1987 and 2003 they lost six Asian championship finals to the People's Republic of China. At the 2022 Asia Cup, they were beaten 88-78 in the quarterfinals by New Zealand.
