FOCUS ON MIXED DOUBLES
In early 2023 he said he had decided to focus on mixed doubles and take a break from men's doubles. "The calendar is too packed and hectic [with too many tournaments], so I think it's better for me to focus on one event. Right now, I'm focused on the mixed doubles as I kind of stopped competing in the men's doubles for individual events. But whenever the [Singapore] team need me for the team event, I'll be ready." (thestar, 12 Jan 2023)

COMPETING AS A COUPLE
He and Jessica Tan began competing together in mixed doubles in 2014. The pair got married in October 2021. "In 2014, there was the novelty of playing together for the first time and no pressure like there is now. It can be difficult competing as a couple because there are things you cannot say because you don't want to hurt the other person's feelings. And sometimes, it is just that when someone close to you criticises you or gives you a suggestion, it is harder to accept than when a third party tells you." (tnp, 23 Jul 2022)
