General
Chinese Taipei are the reigning Asian Games champions after claiming their first gold medal at the 2018 Games in Indonesia. After finishing third in the ranking round, they posted 6-0 victories over Nepal and Japan in their first two knockout matches. Another 6-0 triumph over the Mongolian team followed in the semifinals, and they then overcame eight-time Asian Games champions the Republic of Korea 5-3 in the gold medal match.
The Chinese Taipei team previously won a trio of silver medals between 1998 and 2006, as runners-up to the Republic of Korea on each occasion, and bronze at the 1990 Asian Games.
Chinese Taipei made their seventh Olympic appearance at the 2020 Games, and won their second Olympic medal with silver in Tokyo after a 6-0 defeat in the final to the Republic of Korea. They also claimed silver at the 2004 Games in Athens, where they were also beaten in the final by the Republic of Korea.
Chinese Taipei's best showings at the world championships are the bronze medals they won in 2007, 2015, and 2021. They also claimed four bronze medals at the Asian championships between 2005 and 2015.
